Too dark

Review by Phillip G. Boyd, 2009-10-30

Okay, maybe it's just me, but I was really hoping that this would be a good choice for winter bike commuting to keep the rain/sleet/snow/wind out of my eyes. Unfortunately the brown color is too dark for anything but bright daylight - I guess I should know the difference between polarized and photochromic, but I missed it with these. The return was handled quickly by the supplier, so that was a good thing.

Vermillon Lenses are First Rate, 5 Weekends at Tahoe

Review by R. Auger, 2009-08-30

I give it 4 stars because Bolle won't make a Vermillon Lens version that is more low profile for people who don't wear a helmut, but it is otherwise perfect. I have to go to a brand that costs twice as much for a low profile version.

I bought the Vermillion lenses, which get darker or lighter depended on the environment. One day the sky in Squaw Valley went from overcast to sun fully exposed, it kepted up and my eyes were comfortable and I saw sharp.. When I started as a beginner, these helped my confidence as I could see so sharp and clear, seeing small details in the snow. My old orange goggles sucked and blurred detail. My confidence allowed me to finally hit the blue slopes.

My moderately big head was comfy, and it rarely fogged up. The air vents on top seem to work, and I never felt the need to take them off to give my cheeks some air.

If you're shopping for goggles, the last place to go cheep on is the lenses. Get the Vermillon, they worked at night, in the bright california sun, and in overcast, you won't need any other lenses or goggles!
